Restaurant De Kas is looking for an experienced, independent gardener for our unique garden in the Beemster. Do you have a green thumb, a passion for sustainable cultivation, and enjoy working as part of a dedicated team? Then we would love to meet you!
At Restaurant De Kas, we work literally from soil to plate. Our vegetables, herbs, and flowers grow in our own greenhouses and gardens in Amsterdam and the Beemster. Every day, we harvest what is ready, forming the basis for a surprising and seasonal menu.
As Head Gardener in the Beemster, you will independently manage approximately 1,500 m² of open-field crops and 1,300 m² of cold greenhouse. You will plan, sow, care for, and harvest crops using biological and sustainable cultivation methods. You will work closely with our chefs to coordinate the harvest and regularly guide volunteers, interns, and visitors on site. Collaboration with the Head Gardener of Amsterdam is also part of the role.
We are looking for someone with at least five years of gardening experience who can work independently, in an organized and solution-oriented way. You are social and communicative, as you often collaborate with others and welcome visitors. You have an affinity for organic cultivation and seasonal work, understanding that the workload is higher during the peak season and lighter in winter. You also hold a valid driver’s license (B) and live in or near North Holland or are willing to travel to the Beemster.
We offer a full-time position (38 hours per week) with plenty of freedom and responsibility. You will work in a unique location, surrounded by nature, with a creative and passionate team that values sustainability and love for food.
